RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. REGISTRATION

 

  • FLUX DANCE COMPETITION 2018 is open to all Singaporeans, permanent residents and those who hold student/employment passes between the ages of 16 and 25.

    • Cut-off age for participants of the competition is as of 31 December, 2018.

 

  • Registration closes on 1 July 2018, 2359. All entries must be done online, via our website: thefluxcollective.com.

    • Entry fees are strictly non-refundable and acceptance of late entries will be at the discretion of THE FLUX COLLECTIVE.

    • NRIC should be presented for verification, when requested.

  • Competitors who get through to the Heats will have to fill up the Indemnity Form available here and submit it on the day itself. 

 2. COMPETITION AND JUDGING CRITERIA

  • Participants from both the solo and group category will be assessed under the same criteria.

    • Groups will be however additionally assessed by how dancers interact with each other.

  • However, they would only be assessed under against competitors within their division (solo/group) and each division will award the following accolades.

  • Participants should note that the item description will be used to assess the conceptual understanding of the item.

  • Participants in each of their respective categories of the competition are eligible to attain one or more of the following accolades: 

 

MUSIC TRACK/DURATION

  • Participants should keep the duration of their competition item strictly to within the respective time limits (as listed in page one of the document). Failure to do so will result in a penalty at the discretion of THE FLUX COLLECTIVE.

  • Participants that progress to heats/finals are required to send their track (in .wav or .mp3 format) to reachus@thefluxcollective.com on the following dates:

    • Heats: 10 September 2018, 2359

    • Finals: 17 September 2018, 2359

  • Soundtrack is to be labelled accordingly:

    • Category_TeamName (i.e. Group Category_TheDancingDolls)

  • Participants are required to bring a back-up copy of their soundtrack in a thumb drive during the Heats and/or Finals.

USAGE OF PROPS 

  • The usage of props during the competition is strongly discouraged. However, participants who wish to do so are required to seek permission from THE FLUX COLLECTIVE prior to the end of the registration period.

3. LIABILITY 

 

  • Participants of the competition must be physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation in the event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person. Participants certify that there are no health-related reasons or problems which preclude their participation in this activity. Participants agree to declare truthfully, all past or existing injuries/medical conditions upon registration. THE FLUX COLLECTIVE reserves all right to refuse or withdraw any participant at their sole discretion for medical condition(s) at any point throughout the event.

 

  • Participants acknowledge that this activity may involve a test of a person's physical and mental limits and carries with it the potential for death, serious injury, and property loss. The risks include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather, condition of participants, equipment, vehicular traffic, lack of hydration, and actions of other people including, but not limited to, participants, volunteers, monitors, and/or producers of the activity. These risks are not only inherent to participants, but are also present for volunteers.

 

  • By participating in this event, participants expressly acknowledge and consent to waive, release and discharge THE FLUX COLLECTIVE from liability of all direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage, including but not limited to injuries, death, loss or damage to other equipment or property or for loss of profit, business, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings which may hereafter occur to me including my travelling to and from this activity.

 

  • Feedback are solely based on the professional expertise and judgement of each of the judges.

4. COMPLIANCE

  • Participants understand that by participating in this activity, he/she may be photographed and/or videographed. Participants agree to allow his/her name, voice, photo, video, or film likeness to be used for any publicity exercise organized by THE FLUX COLLECTIVE at their sole discretion.

 

  • Decisions made by THE FLUX COLLECTIVE and its judges are final and non-negotiable.

 

  • Participants agree to comply to the above rules and regulations, as well as the instructions issued on the day(s) of the event. Failure to do so may result in a disqualification.

 

  • Whenever a situation of ambiguity regarding compliance, participants should proactively seek out clarification from THE FLUX COLLECTIVE.

 

  • THE FLUX COLLECTIVE reserves all right to amend any part of the above-mentioned Rules and Regulations without prior notice.
